Rigaud River Trip - April 10, 2005

The Rigaud river is just a few minutes from home for many of us. And there's always plenty of wildlife to see. Most years we can count on up to three weekends of good paddling conditions on this river. This year, unfortunately, water levels have dropped quickly and the weekend we paddled was the first and last one that possible this year. But what a day it was. Gorgeous sunshine and unusually warm temperatures.

We departed from Lochinvar road, below Herb's, around 8:30 A.M. and stopped before noon to enjoy the recreation association brunch at Dalkeith. We pulled out six km from Rigaud, around 4:30 P.M., where the river widens and becomes too rocky to continue. The fact that some of us took an unexpected swim at this point had nothing to do with our decision to pull out -- well hardly anything, honest.
Estimated distance travelled: around 40 km.
